Police Initiatives Highlighted During Eluru Women Safety Motorcycle Rally
Eluru, March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Eluru District Police organized a motorcycle rally to promote awareness about women’s safety and empowerment. The rally was flagged off by District Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Pratap Shiva Kishore extended his greetings to all women police personnel and women across the district. He said that under the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, special Abhaya Shakti Teams have been formed to ensure the safety of women and girls. These teams are actively working in the field and conducting various programs to protect women.

The SP shared a recent example where a woman who had become depressed and attempted to end her life on railway tracks was noticed by members of the Shakti team. They immediately intervened and provided counseling. With their support, she later appeared for a teacher recruitment examination and successfully secured a job.
He also mentioned a sensitive case in Chintalapudi involving an assault on a mentally challenged girl by unidentified persons. Despite the lack of initial evidence, the police used advanced technology and conducted DNA tests on 33 individuals, spending nearly ₹80 lakh to identify the accused. The culprit was eventually arrested and remanded.
SP Pratap Shiva Kishore said that a special room is being set up in the Women Police Station for children and that Shakti teams are providing services across the district. A Shakti App awareness stall was also arranged to educate people about using the application for safety.
He assured that Shakti teams regularly monitor schools and colleges across Eluru district to prevent harassment by miscreants. Women facing any problems can contact the Shakti toll-free number or dial 112, and the information provided will be kept completely confidential.
Along with the SP, several police officials participated in the rally, including trainee IPS officer Jayasharma, Additional SP (Admin) N. Surya Chandra Rao, AR Additional SP G. Muniraja, Eluru DSP D. Sravan Kumar, Women Police Station DSP U. Ravichandra, Eluru One Town Inspector Satyanarayana, Two Town Inspector Ashok Kumar, Three Town Inspector Koteswara Rao, AR RI Pawan Kumar, Traffic Inspector Lakshmana Rao, and several police personnel, including women staff.

The rally started from the Women Police Station located at the district headquarters in Eluru. It passed through RR Peta Over Bridge Centre and Old Bus Stand and concluded at CR Reddy College.
Officials explained the importance of International Women’s Day, stating that it is observed worldwide to recognize women’s rights, dignity, and equal opportunities. They also emphasized that men and women should have equal rights in society and that women’s safety, empowerment, education, and development are essential for social progress.
The officials stated that both the government and the police department will continue to support women in advancing in every field. Through such rallies, the police aim to raise awareness among the public about women’s rights, equality, and safety.
They also noted that many programs are conducted globally on the occasion of International Women’s Day to create awareness about women’s empowerment and gender equality.
In Eluru district, under the guidance of SP K. Pratap Shiva Kishore, various awareness programs were organized from March 1 to March 8 across Eluru, Jangareddygudem, Polavaram, and Nuzvid subdivisions.
These programs included awareness rallies to educate the public about women’s rights and safety, seminars and discussions on women’s development, education, health, and employment opportunities, and special felicitation programs honoring women who have made outstanding contributions to society.
Cultural events such as dances, songs, and skits were also organized to showcase women’s talents. In addition, health camps and free medical check-ups were conducted across the district to promote women’s health and well-being. Many police officers, staff members, and women personnel actively participated in these programs.
