Health Camps, Awareness Programs and Cultural Events Planned for Women’s Empowerment
Eluru, March 5:District Collector K. Vetriselvi has directed officials to make extensive arrangements to celebrate International Women’s Day in a grand manner across the district. On Thursday, the Collector held a review meeting with concerned officials at the Gautami Conference Hall in the Eluru Collectorate to discuss preparations for the upcoming celebrations.
Speaking at the meeting, Collector Vetriselvi stated that the International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8 should be conducted in a grand manner at both district and constituency levels. She instructed special officers in each constituency to supervise the arrangements and ensure the celebrations are held in a pleasant and well-organized environment.

The Collector directed that the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) and the District Women and Child Welfare Department coordinate with various departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the event. She also suggested setting up stalls by different departments at the venue to showcase welfare schemes and services for women.
To promote awareness and empowerment among women, the Collector recommended organizing cultural programs during the celebrations. She asked officials to prepare a detailed action plan to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

Collector Vetriselvi further stated that women who have rendered voluntary services in various fields across the district, as well as women employees who have performed exceptionally in different government departments, should be honored with appreciation certificates. Women who have excelled in different sectors will also be felicitated during the celebrations.
She emphasized the need to create awareness among women about their rights and the measures taken by the government to ensure their safety. The Collector also instructed officials to educate women about safety initiatives such as the Shakti App, which has been introduced to enhance women’s security.
Additionally, she directed officials to organize health check-up camps for women as part of the Women’s Day celebrations. Special medical camps focusing on cancer screening should also be arranged. A nutrition exhibition should be conducted to spread awareness about healthy diets and nutrition among women.

The Collector instructed that all district-level officials from various departments must attend the Women’s Day program along with women participants.
The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer V. Visweswara Rao, DRDA Project Director Vijayalakshmi, Eluru Municipal Commissioner A. Bhanu Pratap, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Shobha, ICDS Project Director P. Sharada, District BC Welfare Officer R.V. Nagarani, MEPMA Project Director Raja Babu, and officials from various departments.
