Guntur, Feb 03: Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar urged officials of all departments to work in coordination to ensure that devotees attending the Quarry Tirunallu festivities face no inconvenience.
On Tuesday morning, a coordination committee meeting with divisional-level officials was held at the Sri Bala Koteswara Swamy Temple in Quarry, Chebrolu mandal, to review arrangements for the Maha Shivaratri Tirunallu. The meeting was chaired by Tenali In-charge Sub-Collector and Special Deputy Collector Srinivas.
Addressing the officials, the MLA said arrangements should enable the maximum number of common devotees to have darshan of the deity. He asked officials to cooperate with the police to maintain law and order. The Endowments Department was instructed to complete abhishekams between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. so that general devotees can have darshan in large numbers.
He suggested setting up two queue lines instead of three—one for Sheeghra Darshan and Abhishekam Darshan, and the other for general devotees.
The Maha Shivaratri festival will be observed on the 13th, 14th, and 15th:
13th: Pongali cattle procession around the temple
14th: Vehicle procession
15th: Main Maha Shivaratri celebrations
The Panchayat officials were instructed to ensure safe drinking water and proper sanitation. The Medical Department was asked to set up medical camps. Electricity officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and keep an electrician available near the lighting arrangements.
RTC officials informed that 23 buses are being arranged, and they were asked to be ready to deploy more buses if required. The Police Department has planned bandobast with 500 personnel. Officials on festival duty were to be issued passes. Priests were advised to arrange flowers in advance for rituals.
The Endowments Department was instructed to submit estimates for temple renovation works, and hereditary trustees and the public were requested to extend cooperation. Steps were also advised to avoid traffic issues for processions coming from Gundavaram and Godavarru villages.
A local foundation will provide drinking water and pulihora (tamarind rice) to devotees. The MLA emphasized that Maha Shivaratri is a festival for all and lakhs of devotees are expected, urging all officials to work in coordination to provide necessary facilities.
After the meeting, posters prepared for the Maha Shivaratri celebrations were released.
Chebrolu Tahsildar Srinivasa Sharma, Tenali DSP Janardhana Rao, divisional officers, and members of the public attended the meeting.
