Amaravati, July 16: The Thalliki Vandanam Scheme will continue in Andhra Pradesh for the 2026-27 academic year, offering ₹15,000 annually for every eligible student studying from Classes I to XII, including Intermediate. The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to education by extending direct financial assistance to eligible mothers and guardians through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The scheme covers students enrolled in recognised Government, Private Aided, Private Unaided and Residential Schools as well as Junior Colleges across the state. The assistance will be credited directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, irrespective of the number of children in a family.

Thalliki Vandanam Scheme Eligibility and Financial Assistance

While beneficiaries will receive ₹15,000 per child every year, the government will deduct ₹2,000 at source for each student. This amount will support school maintenance, sanitation, hygiene and infrastructure improvements under guidelines to be issued by the School Education Department.

The government has prescribed clear eligibility norms to ensure the benefits reach economically weaker families. Household income should not exceed ₹10,000 per month in rural areas and ₹12,000 per month in urban areas. Families must also possess a rice card and meet conditions relating to land ownership, electricity consumption and property limits.

Applicants will not qualify if any family member pays income tax or works in a Central or State government department or public sector undertaking, except for categories specifically exempted by the government. Households owning private four-wheelers, excluding taxis, tractors and autos, are also ineligible.

Thalliki Vandanam Scheme Covers Classes I to XII

The Thalliki Vandanam Scheme applies to students studying from Class I to Class XII, including Intermediate education. However, students pursuing ITI, Polytechnic, RGUKT (IIIT) and other courses already receiving fee reimbursement under government schemes are excluded.

The government has also extended the benefit to eligible orphan and street children studying through recognised voluntary organisations after verification. New admissions to Classes I and XI will also be considered after completion of the admission process within the prescribed timeline.

Thalliki Vandanam Scheme Verification and Grievance Process

To ensure transparency, all schools and junior colleges must verify student and parent information before submitting it through official education portals. Aadhaar authentication, mother-child mapping and verification with household and Civil Supplies databases will be completed before releasing funds.

Eligible mothers or guardians must have Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts to receive the financial assistance through DBT. The government will publish beneficiary lists at Swarna Gramam and Swarna Ward offices to facilitate social audit.

In addition, an online grievance redressal system will allow ineligible applicants to seek corrections and verification. Officials have warned that anyone submitting false information to obtain benefits will face criminal action along with recovery of the assistance amount.

By continuing the Thalliki Vandanam Scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to improve student enrolment, reduce school dropouts and encourage greater parental participation in education during the 2026-27 academic year.
