Telugu short stories are gaining increasing recognition among international readers, reflecting the growing global influence of Telugu literature, said Dr. Jasti Veeranjaneyulu, Chairman of the Amaravati Development Committee and National Vice-President of the All India Panchayat Parishad (New Delhi). He made these remarks while unveiling the Kathapadmālu Story Collection authored by writer Tatikola Padmavathi during a literary gathering held in Potturu village of Guntur district as part of the Sri Parabhava Nama Samvatsara Ugadi celebrations.

Literary Gathering Marks Launch of Kathapadmālu Story Collection
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sahithikiranam Branch Office in Potturu last Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Tumuluri Rajendra Prasad. During the event, Vidadala Sambasiva Rao, Founder President of the Vidadala Niharika Foundation, received the book dedication and expressed happiness over the honour. He noted that encouraging writers and supporting literary competitions organised by Sahithikiranam is a matter of pride for him.
Speaking at the event, V.V. Raghava Reddy, Managing Director of Karthika Developers and sponsor of the Ugadi poetry competition prizes, along with R. Damayanthi, Founder President of the Mutturi Kamalamma Foundation, stressed the importance of promoting literary talent. Poet and critic Dr. Jeldi Vidyadhara Rao appreciated the organisers for conducting such a prestigious Ugadi literary celebration in a village like Potturu.
Ugadi Awards and Literary Competitions Held
Writer Vadali Radhakrishna analysed the prize-winning stories from the literary competitions. Earlier, Potturi Jayalakshmi, Manager of Sahithikiranam, gave an introduction to the newly released Kathapadmālu Story Collection. The programme was conducted by Pedduri Venkatadasu, while Potturi Subbarao, Editor of Sahithikiranam, inaugurated the meeting.
Ugadi Awards were presented to Chalapaka Prakash, Kadiyala Prabhakar Rao, Y. Kanakadurga, R. Narasimha Rao and A. Soujanya. Poetry competition winners included Indraganti Madhusudana Rao, Modali Padma, Maunashree Mallik, Korada Appalaraju and Chitteela Sreedhar Kumar.

In the Sankranti short story competitions, prizes were awarded to Patnala Eswara Rao, Puppala Krishnamurthy, Moganti Satyagauri, B.V. Mitra, Potturi Sitarama Raju, Chilakamarrri Rajeswari and K. Kishore Kumar. In the Mutturi Kamalamma Foundation short story competition, Chalapaka Prakash and B.V. Mitra received awards.
The event also featured a Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam where poets including Subani, Bandikallu Jamadagni, V.S.V. Prasad, Jani Basha, A. Pullarao, M. Srinivasa Rao, V. Srinivasacharyulu, M. Subhadra Krishna and K. Subbayamma recited their poems.

The programme began with a prayer song by Potturi Anudyuti and Anisha, while Potturi Muralikrishna and Padma entertained the audience with a musical performance.
