Guntur, Feb 9: District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya called for strong action to prevent drug abuse and protect the lives of youth. A district-level committee meeting was held on Monday evening at the Collector’s Office.Addressing the meeting, the Collector directed officials to take stringent measures to control narcotic substances and ensure that drugs do not enter educational institutions. He emphasized that addiction can ruin young lives, financially burden families, and severely damage health. He advised departments to conduct frequent awareness programs.
Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal stated that firm steps are being taken to curb drug abuse. He informed that cases have been registered against 118 individuals, 28 hotspots have been identified in Guntur city, and 92 unused buildings have been mapped as vulnerable locations.
The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer N.S.K. Khajavali, ICDS Project Director P. Prasuna, DRDA Project Director V. Vijayalakshmi, District Education Officer Dr. Shaik Saleem Basha, District Tribal Welfare & Empowerment Officer P. Muralidhar, District Minority Welfare Officer Parthasarathi, District Intermediate Education Officer J. Padma, Regional Monitoring Officer G. Sunitha, Agriculture Joint Director M. Padmavathi, Deputy Transport Commissioner Seetharamireddy, and other officials.
