US Attacks Violate UN Norms: CPI Announces Statewide Protests
Eluru, March 11: US Attacks Violate UN Norms, alleged CPI State Secretary Gujjula Eswaraiah, criticizing the United States for reportedly carrying out attacks on other countries in violation of international rules and United Nations regulations. He said that while people around the world seek peace and welfare, the US continues aggressive actions against several nations.
Addressing a press conference at the CPI district office “Sphoorthi Bhavan” in Eluru on Tuesday evening, Eswaraiah said the United States is attempting to dominate several countries, including Iran and Venezuela, through military and economic pressure. He also criticized statements made by US President Donald Trump, saying that threatening countries which oppose US sanctions reflects unilateral decision-making.
He expressed concern over attacks in Iran, alleging that innocent civilians, including children, were killed in bombings, and described such incidents as extremely tragic.
Commenting on national issues, Eswaraiah criticized the Central Government, stating that when Trump announced a ceasefire during India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted it without adequate national consultation, which he claimed affected the country’s sovereignty.
He further stated that wars largely benefit arms manufacturers, while ordinary people suffer severe economic hardships. He urged the Indian government to adopt diplomatic efforts to prevent wars and restore peace across the world.
Turning to state issues, Eswaraiah criticized the Andhra Pradesh coalition government, alleging that even after 22 months in power, it has failed to provide meaningful benefits to the people. He also accused the police department of siding with the ruling party, which he termed inappropriate.
The CPI leader further alleged that the government has failed to control the medical mafia in the state, claiming that drug control authorities were not taking strict action against irregularities.
He also criticized the government for failing to control the rise in LPG cooking gas prices, which he said have increased significantly in recent months.
Regarding irrigation projects, Eswaraiah said the state government has failed to secure the required ₹32,000 crore funds for the Polavaram Project from the Centre. He demanded special financial allocation to complete the Polavaram project within a fixed timeframe, describing it as a lifeline project for Andhra Pradesh.
He also urged the government to complete the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Project on a war footing to provide irrigation water to 4.60 lakh acres in upland areas.
Eswaraiah announced that the CPI will launch statewide protests from March 24 across all 28 districts of Andhra Pradesh against what he described as anti-people policies of the state government. The protests will focus on issues such as housing, house sites, ration cards, pensions, and other public welfare benefits.
He appealed to poor and working-class people to participate in large numbers in the agitation programmes.
The press conference was attended by CPI State Secretariat member P. Harinath Reddy, leader Dega Prabhakar, District Secretary Mannava Krishna Chaitanya, Assistant Secretary Bandi Venkateswara Rao, and other party leaders.
