Veeravasaram: A workshop titled “100 Days Campaign – Reflection and Way Forward” was organized at the MPDO conference hall in Veeravasaram by the Child Rights Advocacy Foundation in association with the Child Protection Unit.
Speaking as the chief guest, Child Protection Officer R. Rajesh said the Child Marriage Free India Campaign was conducted for 100 days from November 27 to March 7, concluding on International Women’s Day. He stated that the campaign was widely implemented across West Godavari district to create awareness about the harmful effects of child marriages.

During the campaign, awareness programmes were conducted in schools, colleges, and places of worship, where religious leaders and community members took pledges against child marriages. Officials also organized an awareness campaign vehicle tour across all mandals and villages in the district to spread the message of preventing child marriages.
He urged the public to inform authorities through the Child Helpline number 1098 if any child marriage is reported or suspected.
Officials Stress Need for Public Awareness
Mandal Tahsildar Ramanjaneyulu said that if any child marriage cases are brought to their notice, officials will coordinate with the Child Protection Department to ensure the children receive proper care and protection.

MPDO Vijaya Bhavathi said the 100-day awareness drive received a strong response, helping people better understand the dangers of child marriages.
CDPO Lakshmikantham added that whenever information about child marriages is received, officials immediately visit the location, provide counselling to the families, prevent the marriage, and extend necessary support to the children.
The programme was attended by Child Rights Advocacy Foundation State Coordinator CH Prabhakar, District Coordinator R. Srinivas, Women Police Station staff, Anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers, among others.
