Media Plays Key Role in Protecting Democratic Values and Public Awareness
414 Journalists Approved for Accreditation in First Committee Meeting
Narasaraopet, Feb 10: District Collector Kritika Shukla stated that the media plays a vital role in shaping public opinion, safeguarding democratic values, and acting as a bridge between the government and the people. She said that responsible journalism not only spreads awareness in society but also ensures that government development initiatives reach the public quickly. She emphasized that the government is continuously working to protect the welfare, safety, and professional dignity of journalists.
On Tuesday, the Collector chaired the Palnadu District Media Accreditation Committee meeting at the Collectorate. During the meeting, District Information and Public Relations Officer Deepti explained the agenda items and key aspects related to the Media Accreditation Rules–2025 to the committee members.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector noted that the media, by bringing public issues to light, guides society in the right direction and plays an invaluable role in building public trust in development activities. She advised journalists to contribute to society by publishing fact-based and responsible news without giving room for misinformation.
Later, the committee proposed granting accreditations to eligible journalists in the district working in print media, monthly publications, magazines, electronic media, cable TV, and channels broadcast through AP Fiber Net. In the first committee meeting, approval was given for a total of 414 accreditations.
