On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Kamineni Hospitals launched an awareness campaign on Tuesday to help people assess their cancer risk based on family history. As part of the initiative, individuals can give a missed call to 040-6905 9100 between February 4 and 10, 2026, to avail a free expert consultation with specialists. The campaign targets people with one or more relatives diagnosed with cancer, as nearly 10% of cancers are linked to inherited genetic changes. Doctors highlighted that cancers such as breast, ovarian, endometrial, prostate, and colorectal—especially when seen at a young age or across multiple family members—warrant genetic evaluation.
The hospital also announced a 20% concession on doctor-recommended diagnostic tests during the campaign period. Experts noted that identifying inherited risk early enables focused screening, preventive measures, and personalised care, significantly improving outcomes. The hospital’s Department of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, supported by board-certified genetic counsellors working alongside oncology teams, will provide comprehensive risk assessment and guidance as part of the initiative.
