Self-employment is the key to achieving women’s economic empowerment, said Dr. G. Lakshmisha, stressing the importance of skill-based training under government-supported initiatives like RISE. He urged women to actively participate in such programs and convert their skills into sustainable income opportunities.

RISE Training Programs Empower Women with Skills
During his visit to the RISE Centre in Guntupalli, the Collector inspected an ongoing tailoring training program. Conducted in two batches daily for 30 days, the program aims to provide practical skills for self-employment.
He interacted with participants, reviewing their progress and understanding their experiences. The Collector encouraged them to make full use of the training and focus on building long-term income sources.

From Training to Income Generation

Dr. Lakshmisha emphasized that skill development should not stop at learning. He advised women to translate their training into real-life business opportunities.
He also highlighted the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in accessing bank loans and government schemes. Women were encouraged to explore small-scale businesses and industrial units to achieve financial independence.

Support Through JSS and Sampannakari Initiative
Later, the Collector visited a beautician training program at the DRDA office in Gollapudi, supported by the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), which promotes self-employment through skill development.
Posters for the “Sampannakari” program were also unveiled. Under this initiative:
- Top 150 SHG enterprises will receive incubation support
- Applications are open until April 15
- Selected groups can receive grants up to ₹15 lakh
- Guidance will be provided to scale businesses
Officials including DRDA Project Director A.N.V. Nanchararao, JSS Director Poornima, and Resource Person Y. Bhavani were present.
