Amaravati Quantum Facility Inauguration Signals New Era

The Amaravati Quantum Facility was inaugurated at SRM University AP, while a second facility was virtually launched at Medha Towers in Gannavaram. This dual launch on World Quantum Day highlights India’s growing capabilities in advanced computing technologies.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu described the day as historic, coinciding with the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar. He emphasized that the Amaravati Quantum Facility demonstrates India’s ability to build cutting-edge quantum systems domestically.

Boost Innovation Ecosystem

Highlighting the importance of innovation, Naidu stated that the Amaravati Quantum Facility will help create a strong ecosystem for research, startups, and entrepreneurship. He urged public universities to compete with private institutions in promoting innovation and technological advancements.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that there is no shortage of funds for innovation and called for bridging gaps in infrastructure and talent. He stressed that the Amaravati Quantum Facility will serve as a foundation for developing indigenous quantum computers in the near future.

Strengthens India’s Global Position

Naidu noted that India had previously missed global breakthroughs in hardware development, but quantum technology offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The Amaravati Quantum Facility positions Andhra Pradesh as a leader in contributing to India’s national quantum mission.

The facility includes advanced quantum systems such as Amaravati 1S and 1Q, which are designed for validation, benchmarking, and real-time testing. These systems will enable researchers and industries to build and refine quantum technologies under real operating conditions.

Built with Indigenous Collaboration

A key highlight of the Amaravati Quantum Facility is its predominantly domestic supply chain. Leading institutions like TIFR Mumbai, IISc Bengaluru, and DRDO contributed to the project.

Private players such as Qbit Force, Amber Enterprises, and Qute Electronics also played a crucial role. This collaborative effort under a unified national mission marks a milestone in India’s scientific and technological capabilities.

Empower Citizens

The Chief Minister emphasized that technology must benefit every citizen. He stated that the Amaravati Quantum Facility will not only support scientists but also create opportunities for engineers, developers, and researchers.

Naidu highlighted practical applications, noting that quantum technology can accelerate drug discovery, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance optimization across industries. He also promoted the vision of “one family, one entrepreneur,” encouraging entrepreneurship as a mass movement.

The launch of the Amaravati Quantum Facility represents a transformative step toward making Andhra Pradesh India’s first quantum technology hub. With strong institutional collaboration and a focus on innovation, the initiative sets the stage for future advancements in computing, research, and economic growth. The project underscores India’s readiness to lead in the global quantum revolution.
