Nellore, March 10: Nellore Government Hospital facilities and services were reviewed by District Collector Himanshu Shukla during a meeting of the Government General Hospital Development Committee held on Tuesday. The Collector directed officials to take necessary steps to procure essential equipment required to conduct surgeries as per the targets set for the hospital.

The meeting was held at the lecture hall of the Government General Hospital where the Collector reviewed both clinical and non-clinical aspects related to hospital services.

During the review, the Collector discussed the performance of departments such as General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Oncology, Gynecology, and Ophthalmology. He asked officials to explain the reasons for not achieving the target number of major surgeries.

He instructed officials to prepare a list of required medical equipment and submit proposals to Deputy Collector Maheshwar Reddy within a week. He also directed the staff to give high priority to the purchase of equipment for physiotherapy and psychiatric services.

The Collector further asked officials to inspect the condition of ICU beds through APMSIDC and carry out repairs if needed. If repairs are not possible, new beds should be arranged. He emphasized that the number of surgeries at Nellore Government Hospital should be increased to provide better medical services to patients.

While reviewing non-clinical matters, the Collector stressed the need for stronger security arrangements. He directed officials to control the number of attendants accompanying patients at the main gate and asked Additional SP Soujanya to coordinate with the police department to regulate the crowd.
