Speaker Targets Opposition Over Absence

Speaking ahead of the Amaravati resolution, Ayyanna Patrudu expressed disappointment over the absence of opposition members. He said he expected them to attend, support the resolution, and show accountability.

Calls Amaravati Resolution Historic

Describing it as a landmark move, the Speaker said the resolution reflects the aspirations of nearly five crore people of Andhra Pradesh.

He emphasized that the Assembly represents the people’s will and termed the resolution a “sacred responsibility” aimed at removing development hurdles.

Criticism of 2019–2024 Governance

Ayyanna Patrudu criticized the governance between 2019 and 2024 under YSRCP, alleging that development projects were halted.

He stated that while political changes are natural, governance continuity is crucial. According to him, previous decisions disrupted progress and pushed the state backward.

Highlights Role of Chandrababu Naidu

The Speaker praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his vision in selecting Amaravati as the capital.

He noted that farmers supported the project by voluntarily pooling land, but later faced difficulties when development slowed down during the previous government.

Push for Permanent Capital Status

Ayyanna Patrudu stressed the importance of ensuring Amaravati’s permanent capital status through legislative backing.

He also mentioned that the Centre has agreed to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, crediting the current government’s efforts.

The Speaker concluded that the Amaravati Resolution is more than a legislative step—it reflects the state’s commitment to development. He termed the opposition’s absence during such a crucial moment as unfortunate and a missed opportunity for accountability.
