Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is committed to strengthening basic infrastructure, including roads, drinking water supply, sanitation, and drainage systems, under the comprehensive Guntur development works plan. He instructed officials to ensure quality execution and timely completion of all ongoing projects.

He directed officials to complete road widening and drainage works on major roads within the next two months and avoid taking up new works until the ongoing Guntur development works are completed. He emphasized that development activities should not cause inconvenience to the public and asked officials to closely monitor progress.

The Minister also instructed officials to speed up construction of the Shankar Vilas Railway Over Bridge (ROB), which is a key project under the Guntur development works programme. He said pending land acquisition should be completed without delay to ensure timely completion of the project.

Dr Pemmasani further directed officials to ensure that Phase-3 of the Inner Ring Road project is completed within the stipulated timeline. He said the project will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the city.

Highlighting the importance of drinking water supply, the Minister instructed officials to immediately take up repairs of water reservoirs and begin works sanctioned under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. He also directed officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the development of PVK Naidu Market, Manasa Sarovaram, and Nallapadu tank under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode as part of future Guntur development works.

The Minister stressed the need to strengthen sanitation infrastructure by procuring adequate sanitation vehicles, including e-autos, tractors, and dumper bins. He instructed officials to complete cleaning of major and internal drains before the onset of monsoon and ensure regular maintenance of roads to prevent potholes.

He also emphasized improving street lighting and directed officials to upgrade roads transferred from the Roads and Buildings Department into cement roads in a phased manner. He suggested forming walkers’ associations to maintain parks and improve greenery in the city.

Dr Pemmasani said that over the past 20 months, development works worth ₹400 crore have been taken up under various schemes. He expressed satisfaction over the progress and said the Guntur development works will significantly improve the quality of life for citizens.

Speaking to media persons, the Minister said tenders have been invited for the long-pending Narla Venkateswara Rao Auditorium project and steps are being taken to accelerate sanitation and water supply projects.

Public representatives, including MLAs Galla Madhavi and Mohammed Naseer Ahmed, and Mayor Kovelamudi Ravindra, assured full cooperation to complete all Guntur development works and ensure improved infrastructure and civic services for the people.

Senior district officials and engineering staff participated in the review meeting.
