He firmly maintained that his son, Eluru MP Puttah Mahesh Kumar, has committed no wrongdoing and has no connection to drugs or any such activities.

Puttah Mahesh Kumar Drug Allegations: Questions Over Police Procedure
Speaking in detail, Sudhakar Yadav explained that his son had attended a dinner party upon invitation but attempted to leave after noticing unusual circumstances. At that time, an Eagle team of police officials arrived and conducted checks. In the presence of police, a urine sample was collected, and within just 10 minutes, the results reportedly showed that Mahesh Kumar tested negative, while five others tested positive.
However, the Puttah Mahesh Kumar Drug Allegations took a controversial turn when police later took him to Erragadda Government Hospital, where again only urine samples were collected. Sudhakar Yadav questioned how, after nearly five hours, officials announced that Mahesh Kumar tested positive in blood samples, despite no blood sample being collected. He termed this development highly suspicious and demanded clarity from the police regarding how such a report was generated.
He also highlighted inconsistencies in the timeline, noting that while the initial urine test results were released almost immediately, the subsequent reports took several hours, raising further doubts about the process.
Puttah Mahesh Kumar Drug Allegations: Medical Evidence Supports Innocence
Sudhakar Yadav further strengthened his argument by citing his son’s medical history. He revealed that Mahesh Kumar underwent heart surgery in 2021 and had a stent placed. Doctors had advised him to keep his heart rate below 120, warning that exceeding this limit could be life-threatening. During the police examination, his pulse was recorded at 97, which, according to medical experts, does not align with drug consumption, as such substances typically elevate heart rates to 150–180.
He added that certain medications used for heart or diabetic conditions could sometimes produce misleading results resembling drug traces, a possibility supported by international research, including studies from Oxford University.

After returning home, Mahesh Kumar underwent further tests at reputed laboratories in Hyderabad and Delhi. All reports came back negative. Even at AIIMS in Delhi, a blood test conducted after 48 hours confirmed that he had not consumed any drugs. These findings, Sudhakar Yadav said, clearly counter the Puttah Mahesh Kumar Drug Allegations.
He stated that due to the ongoing police investigation, the family cannot disclose all details at this stage. However, he expressed confidence that his son will soon prove his innocence with concrete evidence and address the media directly. He also confirmed that Mahesh Kumar has already submitted his explanation to the party leadership in response to the show-cause notice.
