The Polavaram Project Completion has gained momentum as Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finishing the project before the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu. Polavaram Project Completion Progress and Diaphragm Wall Milestone

The Polavaram Project Completion witnessed a major milestone with the successful completion of the diaphragm wall. The 1,372-meter-long structure, which began on January 18, 2025, was completed within 440 days. The minister appreciated engineers for their dedication and felicitated them for achieving this critical phase. He also alleged that the previous structure was damaged, leading to an additional ₹1,000 crore expenditure for reconstruction. Despite challenges such as floods and heavy rains, the current government ensured uninterrupted progress under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Polavaram Project Completion and Rehabilitation Efforts
The Polavaram Project Completion is being carried out alongside strong rehabilitation measures. The government has distributed ₹1,943 crore compensation in three phases over the past 21 months, significantly higher than the ₹700 crore provided earlier in 2016. Financial assistance for house construction has been increased to ₹3.5 lakh, while ₹2 lakh is being provided for house sites. A special grievance cell has also been established to resolve issues faced by displaced families, ensuring that Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) works progress in parallel with construction. The government aims to complete the first phase of R&R by the time the project is finished.

Polavaram Project Completion Timeline and Canal Works
The minister reiterated that the Polavaram Project Completion target is set for 2027, aligning with the Godavari Pushkaralu. Work on the main dam and Earth-Cum-Rock Fill (ECRF) dam is progressing simultaneously. Additionally, efforts are being made to complete the left main canal before the current agricultural season, enabling water supply to regions up to Anakapalli. This will significantly boost irrigation and agricultural productivity in the state.
