OP Services from April 15, Trial Run Begins Soon

State Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur announced that the newly constructed Government Teaching Hospital will begin OP services from April 15. A trial run is planned after April 1 to ensure readiness before the official launch.

The final inauguration date will be decided after consultations with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav. Officials have been directed to complete all arrangements on a priority basis.

100 MBBS Seats, NMC Approval Process Underway

The government has applied to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for approval of 100 MBBS seats from the 2026–27 academic year. An inspection team is expected soon.

The move is aimed at strengthening medical education and creating more opportunities for students in Andhra Pradesh.

Officials have been instructed to complete all construction works by the end of May to meet NMC norms.

Construction on Fast Track, Weekly Monitoring Ordered

During his visit, Saurabh Gaur reviewed ongoing works along with District Collector Kritika Shukla and other officials. He directed engineers and contractors to speed up construction and adhere strictly to deadlines.

“All works must be taken up on a mission mode. I will review progress every week,” he said.

Special officers have been appointed to monitor construction, recruitment, and service readiness on a continuous basis.

Staff Recruitment, Hostels and Facilities in Focus

The Health Department and Directorate of Medical Education (DME) have been asked to complete recruitment of doctors, paramedical staff, and support personnel.

These steps are expected to ensure smooth functioning of services once the hospital becomes fully operational.

Officials were also directed to provide adequate hostel facilities and basic amenities for future MBBS students.

Infrastructure, Transport and Support Systems Strengthened

Authorities have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply, along with sanitation, security, dietary services, and oxygen facilities.

The District Collector also directed officials to develop proper access infrastructure, including bus stops near the hospital for patient convenience.

Senior officials from the Health Department and engineering teams participated in the inspection and review meetings.

Boost to Healthcare and Medical Education

With tight timelines and close monitoring, the government aims to make the Piduguralla teaching hospital fully operational soon. The project is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services and medical education opportunities in Palnadu district.
