Mayor Sujatha reviews infrastructure and sanitation works in Nellore’s 53rd Division

Nellore 53rd Division Development gained momentum as Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha conducted a field inspection in Ashok Nagar and nearby areas on Wednesday. The visit focused on reviewing ongoing civic works and accelerating key infrastructure projects in the division.

Mayor Reviews Projects, New Secretariat Near Completion

During her visit, the Mayor inspected Gandhi Girijan Colony and surrounding localities, assessing progress on multiple development works. She said the construction of the new ward secretariat building is progressing the following directions from Municipal Administration Minister Dr. P. Narayana.

The old building had become dilapidated, causing inconvenience to staff. Acting on the issue, officials initiated construction of a new facility, which is now targeted for completion and inauguration by April 14.

Focus on Roads, Drainage and Greenery

Welcoming the State government’s move to declare the 53rd Division as a model division, Sujatha said the area will soon become a benchmark for urban development.

She outlined key priorities including:

  • Improvement of drainage systems
  • Construction of CC roads
  • Expansion of greenery
  • Installation of modern street lighting

These measures aim to enhance living conditions and urban infrastructure in the division.

Encroachments Cleared, Sanitation Drive Intensified

Municipal Commissioner Y. O. Nandan said the inspection covered plantation drives, road works, and the secretariat project. He confirmed that officials are working in coordination to ensure timely completion.

He also highlighted efforts to remove encroachments on drainage canals and prevent future violations through public awareness.

In addition, strict steps are being taken to improve sanitation, including:

  • Door-to-door garbage collection
  • Awareness campaigns against open waste dumping

53rd Division Among Model Development Zones

The Commissioner noted that four divisions have been selected for model development in the first phase out of Nellore’s 54 divisions. The inclusion of the 53rd Division reflects its strategic importance and development potential.

Local leaders, along with officials from Engineering, Town Planning, and Sanitation departments, participated in the inspection.
