Collector Nagarani at legal adoption event in Bhimavaram

Collector Nagarani oversees legal adoption process of baby girl

Bhimavaram, March 17, 2026: Emphasizing the importance of Legal Adoption Awareness, District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani stated that adopted children must be raised with equal love, care, and opportunities as biological children. She made these remarks during a formal adoption programme held at the Collector’s bungalow, where a baby girl was legally adopted, marking a significant step in promoting Legal Adoption Awareness in the district.

Legal Adoption Awareness Highlighted at Adoption Event

Promoting Legal Adoption Awareness, the Collector noted that this was the first legal adoption of a girl child in the district following the establishment of the district child care home. A six-month-old baby girl named Suma, who had been under the care of the child home, was adopted by a Karnataka-based couple, Shivananda and Manasa.

She explained that the couple had registered through the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) portal in 2022 and were successfully matched with the child in March 2026. Highlighting the importance of Legal Adoption Awareness, she urged childless couples to follow the legal process through the CARA system, which ensures transparency, accountability, and the welfare of children.

The Collector also stressed that adoption provides orphaned children with a loving family environment and a secure future, reinforcing the need to spread Legal Adoption Awareness across society.

Legal Adoption Awareness and Strict Action Against Illegal Practices

As part of strengthening Legal Adoption Awareness, Collector Nagarani warned against illegal adoption practices, stating that strict action would be taken against those involved in the buying or selling of children. She underlined that only authorized legal channels should be used for adoption.

She further explained that a robust post-adoption monitoring system is in place, where the well-being of adopted children is regularly tracked through reports uploaded to the official portal. This ensures that children continue to receive proper care even after adoption.

The adoptive parents expressed their happiness and gratitude, stating that welcoming the child into their family was a life-changing moment. The programme was attended by District Women and Child Welfare Project Director D. Srilakshmi, District Child Protection Officer R. Rajesh, Child Home Manager Swathi, and other officials.
