India players celebrate six-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Edgbaston

India defeated England by six wickets in the first ODI as Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel starred in a clinical chase.

BIRMINGHAM, July 14: India vs England 1st ODI turned into a showcase of India’s all-round strength as the visitors defeated England by six wickets at Edgbaston on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Axar Patel delivered the standout bowling performance, claiming 4 for 62 and breaking England’s middle order. Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar picked up two wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah and Shivam Dube chipped in with one apiece.
