In a significant push for human trafficking awareness Vijayawada, Rayapati Shailaja, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, called for stringent measures to curb human trafficking and enhance the protection of women and children. She delivered these remarks as the chief guest at an awareness program held in Vijayawada on Friday.

The program, themed “Stop Trafficking – Strengthen Protection,” was conducted at the Railway Institute Hall with participation from multiple departments. She highlighted the urgent need for strict enforcement and proactive measures to tackle this growing concern.

Human Trafficking Awareness Vijayawada Focuses on Victim Protection and Training

As part of strengthening human trafficking awareness Vijayawada, the program focused on equipping officials with the skills required to handle sensitive cases. The Chairperson explained that the primary objective was to ensure protection and support for victims, particularly those who are traumatized.

Officials and staff received guidance on how to interact with victims compassionately, conduct investigations effectively, and gather crucial information without causing further distress. This victim-centric approach is considered essential in improving the outcomes of trafficking cases.

Highlighting the current situation, Shailaja revealed that 126 trafficking cases have been registered in Andhra Pradesh. While the state’s position is relatively better compared to others, she emphasized that continued efforts are necessary to further reduce such incidents.

She also stressed the importance of leveraging technology, including the Shakti App, to identify offenders quickly and accelerate the investigation process. According to her, integrating digital tools with law enforcement can significantly strengthen human trafficking awareness Vijayawada initiatives.

Coordination and Technology Key to Human Trafficking Awareness Vijayawada Efforts

Reinforcing the importance of coordination, Shailaja stated that improving conviction rates depends on strong collaboration between departments such as police, women and child welfare, and railway authorities. She warned that trafficking often occurs under the guise of job offers, fake relationships, and forced labor, making awareness and vigilance critical.

The program also emphasized preventive strategies as part of human trafficking awareness Vijayawada, including community education and early identification of suspicious activities. Officials were encouraged to remain alert and responsive to potential trafficking networks.

P. M. Nair, a former IPS officer, served as a trainer and provided specialized training to officials on advanced investigation techniques. His session focused on practical methods to detect and dismantle trafficking operations effectively.

Railway Protection Force officials, including RPF SP Shanmugham, along with representatives from Government Railway Police, Women and Child Development Department, and Child Welfare Committee, participated in the program. Their collective involvement highlighted the need for a unified approach to strengthen human trafficking awareness Vijayawada.

The event concluded with a strong message that awareness, technology, and inter-departmental coordination are key pillars in combating human trafficking and ensuring safer communities.
