Dr Sirisha Hearing Awareness Highlights Early Detection
During her address, Dr Sirisha Hearing Awareness message emphasized that hearing tests for newborn babies are extremely important immediately after birth while evaluating their overall health. Early detection of hearing problems can help doctors identify the issue at an early stage and begin appropriate treatment.
Dr. Sirisha explained that hearing impairment in children below five years of age can often be treated through Cochlear Implantation surgery. She noted that the Andhra Pradesh government is currently providing cochlear implantation surgery free of cost, helping children with hearing loss develop speech and communication skills.
She advised parents to consult an audiologist immediately if a child does not begin speaking by the age of two. Early medical attention, she said, can significantly improve the chances of recovery and speech development in children with hearing impairment.
Dr. Sirisha also pointed out that many adults ignore hearing problems and postpone treatment until the condition becomes severe. She urged people not to hesitate or feel embarrassed about using hearing aids if required.

Dr Sirisha Hearing Awareness Warns Against Noise and Self-Medication
Another key point in the Dr Sirisha Hearing Awareness programme was the warning about the harmful effects of loud noise exposure. Dr. Sirisha explained that continuous exposure to loud sounds, especially from DJs and high-volume speakers, can damage hearing permanently.
She also clarified that dizziness should not always be assumed to be Vertigo, as it may sometimes occur due to problems in the inner ear’s balance mechanism, which can also affect hearing. Such conditions can often be treated through medical consultation and specific exercises recommended by specialists.
Dr. Sirisha warned people not to take vertigo medication without proper medical advice, as self-medication could lead to further health complications.
