Nellore Paddy Procurement Brings Big Relief to Farmers

Nellore paddy procurement has brought significant relief to farmers in the district, as the Andhra Pradesh government announced strong measures to ensure smooth procurement and faster payments. State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar visited the paddy procurement centre at Inamadugu in Kovur constituency and reviewed the ongoing operations.

During his visit, the Minister interacted with farmers and enquired about their issues related to Nellore paddy procurement. He assured them that the government is fully committed to purchasing every grain produced by farmers. This assurance has created a sense of confidence among farmers who have faced challenges in previous years.

8-Hour Payment System Strengthens Nellore Paddy Procurement

A major highlight of the Nellore paddy procurement drive is the introduction of an 8-hour payment system. The Minister stated that payments will be credited directly to farmers’ accounts within eight hours of procurement. This step is expected to eliminate delays and ensure financial stability for farmers.

Farmers at the procurement centre expressed satisfaction, stating that payments are already being processed quickly. The government’s focus on timely payments is seen as a game-changer in improving trust in the procurement system.

Higher Targets Set for Nellore Paddy Procurement

The government has set an ambitious target of procuring 2 to 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy under the Nellore paddy procurement initiative. This is a significant increase compared to last year’s procurement of 75,000 metric tonnes. So far, around 60,000 metric tonnes have already been collected, indicating strong progress.

Officials believe that this increase will benefit a large number of farmers and ensure that no produce goes unsold.

Addressing Farmer Concerns in Nellore Paddy Procurement

Recognizing the challenges faced by farmers, the government has taken steps to address moisture-related issues in Nellore paddy procurement. Paddy with up to 22 percent moisture content will now be accepted, providing flexibility to farmers during the harvesting season.

Additionally, modern dryers will be made available to help farmers reduce moisture levels. Plans are also underway to establish drying yards in every constituency with the support of employment guarantee funds, under the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Transparency and Farmer Choice in Procurement

Another important reform in Nellore paddy procurement is giving farmers the freedom to choose their preferred rice mills. The Minister directed officials to create awareness among farmers about this option.

At the same time, strict action will be taken against rice mills that fail to comply with government norms. Mills are required to submit bank guarantees, and those failing to do so will be blacklisted. This move aims to bring transparency and accountability into the system.

Government Focus on Farmer-Friendly System

The Andhra Pradesh government is making continuous efforts to improve Nellore paddy procurement by addressing existing gaps and strengthening infrastructure. Minister Nadendla Manohar reiterated that the government is committed to building a transparent, efficient, and farmer-friendly procurement system.

With faster payments, higher procurement targets, and improved infrastructure, Nellore paddy procurement is expected to significantly benefit farmers and boost agricultural growth in the region.
