District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani inaugurates Ugadi Celebrations in Bhimavaram 2026 at Collectorate

Bhimavaram, March 19, 2026:
Ugadi celebrations marking the Telugu New Year, Sri Parabhava Nama Year, were held with great grandeur at the West Godavari District Collectorate in Bhimavaram on Thursday. The event took place at the PGRS conference hall in a festive atmosphere, in the presence of scholars, priests, poets, artists, and district officials.

District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani extended Ugadi greetings to the people of the district, wishing that every family be blessed with happiness, good health, and prosperity. She highlighted the cultural significance of Ugadi in Telugu tradition, explaining that the six tastes (Shadruchulu) in Ugadi Pachadi—sweet, sour, spicy, salty, bitter, and tangy—symbolize the different experiences of life and teach us to accept both joys and hardships with balance.

The Collector was welcomed with Vedic chants by priests. Along with the District Education Officer, Endowments Department Assistant Commissioner, and Agriculture Joint Director, she lit the ceremonial lamp to formally inaugurate the celebrations.

As part of the programme, renowned scholar Emani Ramachandra Somayajulu performed the Panchanga Sravanam, predicting a prosperous year ahead. He stated that sectors like national defense and technology would strengthen during the year. He emphasized the importance of worshipping Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother, performing cow पूजा (Gopuja), and engaging in devotional chanting. He also mentioned that donating gold and performing sacred rituals would bring positive results. Additionally, he noted that the Yamuna River Pushkarams are expected to take place in July this year.

Cultural performances added vibrancy to the event. Young performers from the Vaishnavi Manikantha Kuchipudi Academy in Bhimavaram enthralled the audience with their dance presentations. Students of JLB Municipal High School staged a literary program titled “Bhuvana Vijayam,” portraying the Ashta Diggaja poets, which received great appreciation from the audience, including poets and artists present at the event.

Priests and Vedic scholars were also honored by the Endowments Department, and they later offered Vedic blessings to the District Collector.
