Nellore, March 17: State Minister for Mines, Geology and Excise Kollu Ravindra assured that the government will address all concerns related to the Juvvaladinne Defence Project, emphasizing that the initiative will benefit fishermen while promoting industrial growth. Speaking at an interaction programme held at the Tikkana Auditorium, the Minister said the Juvvaladinne Defence Project is a significant step towards economic development in the region.

Juvvaladinne Defence Project to Support Fishermen
Highlighting the importance of the Juvvaladinne Defence Project, the Minister said that any issues faced by fishermen due to the establishment of Sagar Defence Engineering Private Limited will be resolved proactively. He encouraged fishermen to report concerns through local leaders to ensure timely solutions.

The ₹2,500 crore project, spread across 29 acres near Juvvaladinne, is expected to bring multiple benefits to the fishing community. The Minister stated that advanced systems introduced under the Juvvaladinne Defence Project will help in identifying fish resources and improving rescue operations during cyclones and adverse weather conditions.
He also pointed out that a 114-acre fishing harbour has already been developed in the area, which will support future growth, including food processing and allied industries. The project will create employment opportunities for local youth, especially those willing to acquire new skills.
Juvvaladinne Defence Project Drives Industrial Growth
The Juvvaladinne Defence Project is also expected to accelerate industrial development in Nellore district. The Minister clarified that only 150 meters have been allocated for testing boats, ensuring minimal disruption to fishing activities.
He noted that Andhra Pradesh is attracting significant industrial investments due to its progressive policies. Crediting former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for laying a strong foundation, he said projects like Krishnapatnam Port have transformed the region into an industrial hub.

MLC Beeda Ravichandra highlighted that the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour, built at a cost of ₹288 crore, has become a major asset for fishermen with modern facilities. MLA Kavya Krishna Reddy assured that the Juvvaladinne Defence Project will enhance marketing opportunities, eliminate middlemen, and improve fishermen’s incomes.
She added that around 1,250 boats are currently operating from the harbour, and the use of technologies like GPS will ensure better safety and efficiency.
