Vijayawada, March 26: In a major enforcement action, 65 kg ganja seized at Vijayawada Railway Station led to the arrest of eight persons during a late-night operation on Wednesday. The seizure highlights intensified surveillance against narcotics smuggling through railway routes.

Joint Operation on Puri–Tirupati Express
Acting on prior intelligence inputs, special teams from the Eagle unit and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) carried out a coordinated surprise check on the Puri–Tirupati Express.
Officials inspected passengers’ luggage and identified suspicious bags during the operation. Upon verification, they recovered approximately 65 kilograms of ganja concealed inside.

Eight Suspects Taken into Custody
Police detained eight individuals allegedly involved in transporting the contraband. All suspects were taken into custody at the spot, and preliminary interrogation is underway.
Eagle team Circle Inspector Ravindra confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused.
Investigation Underway, Checks Intensified
Authorities are now investigating the source and intended destination of the seized ganja. Officials indicated that the operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking networks.
Police also warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in narcotics transportation and that inspections at railway stations will be further intensified in the coming days.
