Liver and Digestive Health Awareness is Essential
Dr. Siddhartha Reddy explained that maintaining a healthy digestive system plays a crucial role in overall well-being. He noted that when digestion is functioning properly, nearly half of common health problems can be avoided. Poor digestive health can lead to issues such as indigestion, reduced appetite, and inadequate absorption of nutrients.
He also highlighted that improper functioning of the digestive system can result in constipation and other gastrointestinal complications. Many people, without proper medical advice, consume medications for gas-related issues, which can lead to reduced calcium and acid levels in the body. This, in turn, may cause infections, constipation, and further digestive problems. He strongly advised taking medications only as prescribed by a doctor.

Early Detection Through Awareness of Liver and Digestive Health
The doctor stressed that individuals with diabetes must keep their condition under control, as uncontrolled diabetes can slow intestinal movement and lead to bowel-related issues. He recommended that people above 45 years of age undergo endoscopy and colonoscopy tests once every five years to detect digestive and colon-related problems at an early stage.
He warned that symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, and persistent diarrhea or constipation should not be ignored, as they may indicate serious health conditions requiring immediate medical evaluation.
Dr. Reddy also discussed fatty liver disease, stating that consuming stored food, reheated oil-based food, and experiencing high stress levels can increase the risk. While ultrasound scans can provide initial insights, fibroscan tests offer more accurate detection of fatty liver conditions.

He explained that fatty liver disease has four stages. The first three stages can be treated effectively with proper medical care, but the fourth stage, known as liver cirrhosis, is difficult to cure. He encouraged people to take advantage of free fibroscan tests available at gastroenterology centers in Guntur.
Lifestyle Changes Improve Liver and Digestive Health Awareness
Dr. Reddy pointed out that earlier, alcohol consumption was the primary cause of fatty liver disease, but now obesity has become a major contributing factor. He advised adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes drinking sufficient water, regular walking, exercise, and consuming fiber-rich and nutritious foods.
The seminar was coordinated by TB Sairam. Several prominent individuals, including Rent Payers Association President Narayana Reddy, health analyst VV Rao, retired principal S. Ravibabu, former Chamber of Commerce President Atukuri Anjaneyulu, and senior doctor P. Subba Reddy, attended the event.
