COVID Fighters’ Contribution to Women Empowerment

(By GMA Staff Reporter)
Guntur, Feb 12:The Women Sewing Training Camp in Guntur aims to provide skill-based training to underprivileged women, helping them achieve financial independence and confidence. The initiative by COVID Fighters reflects their continued commitment to social service and women empowerment in Guntur. Former MLC K.S. Lakshmana Rao praised the efforts of the Guntur Fighters Charitable Trust for consistently working towards women’s empowerment over the past two years. He appreciated the organization for boosting confidence and self-reliance among poor women by conducting sewing machine training camps that help them gain skills and achieve self-employment.
On Thursday, Lakshmana Rao, along with senior pediatric specialist Dr. Ala Venkateswarlu, jointly inaugurated a sewing machine training camp organized by COVID Fighters at Ankamma Nagar in Guntur.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmana Rao said that COVID Fighters have truly embodied the spirit of “Service to Humanity is Service to God.” He lauded the organization for serving meals to nearly 11 lakh people and for providing free ambulance services to poor patients and accident victims.
Dr. Ala Venkateswarlu stated that COVID Fighters, which began during the pandemic with just 40 Muslim youth volunteers, has grown into a remarkable humanitarian force. The organization has so far conducted final rites for over 6,000 unclaimed bodies, becoming a symbol of compassion and humanity.
Janachaitanya Vedika President Vallamreddy Lakshmana Reddy noted that in a city like Guntur with a population of nearly 10 lakh, tailoring training can help many women develop skills and achieve financial independence.
He praised COVID Fighters for becoming a role model for other voluntary organizations and earning a permanent place in the hearts of the people of Guntur.
Social activist Kanaparthi Raghava Rao appealed to donors to extend their support to COVID Fighters for their selfless multi-faceted services.
On this occasion, Dr. Ala Venkateswarlu donated five sewing machines for the training classes, Kanaparthi Raghava Rao donated two machines, and K.S. Lakshmana Rao announced a donation of ?10,000. COVID Fighters expressed gratitude for their generous contributions.
The program was attended by Nestham Foundation founder Jaleel Ahmed, Janachaitanya Vedika State General Secretary T. Dhanunjaya Reddy, COVID Fighters leaders Pathan Allabakhshu, Pathan Mujeeb, Pathan Hussain Khan, Topi Babu, trainer Shaik Ayesha, Mekala Ramarao, Vijayalakshmi, and others.
