Amaravati, June 6: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, selecting Sana Satish, Bashyam Ramakrishna, and Chintakayala Vijay for the three available seats.
The announcement has generated significant political interest, as the party sought to balance experience, loyalty, and social representation while finalizing its nominees. The three candidates are expected to file their nominations on Sunday.

Among the selected candidates, Sana Satish has been given a second term in the Rajya Sabha. Having already served as a member of the Upper House, the party leadership once again placed its confidence in him, recognizing his contribution and experience in parliamentary affairs.
For Bashyam Ramakrishna, the nomination marks a major milestone in his political career. The Guntur-based leader has been a prominent figure within the party for several years. Ahead of the 2024 elections, there was widespread speculation that he might be fielded for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat. Although that opportunity did not materialize at the time, the party has now rewarded him with a Rajya Sabha berth, recognizing his long-standing service and commitment.
The selection of Chintakayala Vijay is being viewed as a significant move by the TDP leadership. Vijay, son of Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu, has been active in party affairs and played a key role during the years when the TDP was in opposition. Party leaders point out that both Ayyannapatrudu and Vijay consistently took on the then-ruling YSR Congress Party and remained steadfast despite political pressure and legal challenges.

Political observers note that the TDP has also attempted to maintain social balance in its selections. The three nominees represent different communities, including Kapu, Kamma, and Backward Class (BC) groups. The move is seen as part of the party’s broader strategy to ensure inclusive representation while strengthening its social coalition.
However, the announcement also led to some disappointment among sections of party supporters who had expected senior leader Varla Ramaiah to be nominated. Speculation had been growing that the party might allocate a Rajya Sabha seat to an SC leader, but the final list did not include any representative from the Scheduled Castes category.

With nominations set to be filed shortly, the focus will now shift to the formal election process. The selections reflect the TDP leadership’s effort to blend experience, loyalty, and social representation as it prepares for the next phase of its political journey.
