Eluru, Andhra Pradesh: In a major breakthrough, Eluru district police have solved the sensational double murder case involving two women and arrested three accused persons allegedly involved in the crime. The arrests were made following an intensive investigation using CCTV footage, call data records (CDR), and other advanced technical evidence, district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said.
The accused have been identified as Ponamala Sirisha, Karri Prasadu alias Bannu, and Ashu Durga. Police arrested them on the Nallajerla–Tadepalligudem highway and recovered gold and silver ornaments, mobile phones, a stone and bottles allegedly used in the crime, sedative tablets, and a motorcycle.
According to police, the victims, Madda Venkata Lakshmi and Ganta Anthobai, were relatives of the prime accused Sirisha. Investigators revealed that Sirisha had been living separately from her husband and was in a live-in relationship with co-accused Prasadu.

During the investigation, police found that Sirisha allegedly held a grudge against the victims. Authorities said the victims had reportedly informed her husband about her alleged relationships with other individuals, leading to strained relations. Investigators also uncovered a financial dispute involving a loan of ₹1 lakh that Sirisha had allegedly borrowed from one of the victims.
Police said these issues eventually motivated Sirisha to plot the murders. According to the investigation, she researched methods online and carefully planned the crime with the help of the other accused.
On May 29, the victims were allegedly lured to a cashew orchard near Dubacherla on the pretext of consuming liquor together. Police said sedative tablets were mixed into the alcohol before it was served to the women. Once the victims lost consciousness, the accused allegedly attacked them with a blade and later inflicted fatal injuries using a stone.
After committing the murders, the accused allegedly attempted to destroy evidence and fled the scene. However, investigators tracked their movements through CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and digital evidence collected from the crime scene and surrounding areas.
