Amaravati, June 6: The southwest monsoon is steadily advancing across Andhra Pradesh, bringing a significant change in weather conditions and raising hopes for widespread rainfall across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati Centre, has forecast light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several districts over the next three days.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, the monsoon has expanded further into parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and the Bay of Bengal. Weather experts say conditions remain favorable for the monsoon to advance deeper into Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states in the coming days.

The IMD noted that strong southwesterly winds in the lower atmosphere are creating ideal conditions for rainfall activity across the state. As a result, residents in coastal and interior regions can expect intermittent showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Rain Alert for Coastal Andhra and Yanam
North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall at isolated places through the next three days. Thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds of up to 40–50 kmph may occur in some areas.
Similar weather conditions are expected across South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, where scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast during the same period. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of intense weather activity.

Rayalaseema May Witness Heavy Rainfall
The weather department has indicated a higher possibility of rainfall activity in Rayalaseema. While light to moderate showers are expected initially, one or two locations may receive heavy rainfall in the coming days. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are also likely to accompany the rain.
Relief from Heat Likely
Although maximum temperatures across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are not expected to change significantly over the next five days, increased cloud cover and rainfall could bring a noticeable drop in daytime heat.
Public Advisory Issued
The IMD has urged farmers, fishermen, and the general public to stay alert during thunderstorms and lightning events. People have been advised not to take shelter under trees during lightning activity and to secure loose outdoor objects against strong winds.
With the southwest monsoon gathering momentum, Andhra Pradesh is expected to experience improved moisture conditions and welcome relief from the scorching summer temperatures, marking the beginning of a more active rainy season across the state.
