A Heatwave Alert for North Andhra has been issued by the State Disaster Management Authority, warning of rising temperatures and unstable weather conditions across multiple districts. Amaravati, April 9: Managing Director Prakhar Jain stated that under the Heatwave Alert for North Andhra, several districts will witness extreme temperatures on Friday (April 10), while Rayalaseema regions are likely to record a significant rise in maximum temperatures. At the same time, a trough extending from Telangana through Rayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu up to the Mannar region is expected to trigger light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning in select areas. Districts including Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, Annamayya, and Chittoor may experience sudden thunderstorms, making weather conditions unpredictable.
Heatwave Alert for North Andhra: District-Wise Impact
Under the Heatwave Alert for North Andhra, severe heatwave conditions are expected in several mandals of Vizianagaram district such as Badangi, Bobbili, Terlam, and Vangara. Parvathipuram Manyam district will also be heavily affected, with mandals like Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Jiyyammavalasa, Parvathipuram, Salur, Seethampeta, and Seethanagaram facing extreme heat.
Additionally, Polavaram district (Chintoor, Kunavaram, Vararamachandrapuram) and Eluru district (Kukunoor, Velerupadu) are likely to experience high temperatures. Authorities estimate that around 54 mandals across Vizianagaram, Manyam, Polavaram, Eluru, and NTR districts may fall under the Heatwave Alert for North Andhra by Saturday.
At the same time, lightning and rainfall risks remain in coastal and Rayalaseema districts, making it essential for residents to stay alert to sudden weather changes.

Precautionary Measures Under Heatwave Alert for North Andhra
Officials have advised people, especially women, children, and the elderly, to take extra precautions during the Heatwave Alert for North Andhra. Citizens are urged to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water, ORS, buttermilk, lemon water, lassi, and coconut water.
Avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, wearing light clothing, and staying indoors whenever possible are strongly recommended. Authorities also warned about lightning risks and advised people to seek shelter during thunderstorms.
