Nandyal Drug Control Meeting Focuses on Inter-Department Coordination

During the Nandyal Drug Control Meeting, officials stressed that effective drug control requires seamless coordination among all government departments. Authorities highlighted the urgent need to prevent the production, storage, transportation, and sale of narcotic substances, including cannabis.

The committee outlined strict enforcement measures and called for proactive public participation. Citizens were encouraged to report suspicious drug-related activities through the EAGLE toll-free helpline (1972), assuring complete confidentiality for informants. Awareness campaigns will be intensified to ensure wider reach of this helpline across the district.

Special attention was given to rural areas where illegal cannabis cultivation remains a concern. Officials from agriculture, forest, revenue, health, and village secretariats have been directed to work jointly with enforcement teams to create awareness and increase surveillance in identified hotspots.

Nandyal Drug Control Meeting Highlights Awareness and Rehabilitation Measures

Another key highlight of the Nandyal Drug Control Meeting was the focus on identifying and rehabilitating individuals affected by drug addiction. Authorities urged parents and community members to report cases so that affected individuals can receive treatment at the de-addiction center in the Government General Hospital, Nandyal.

The education department has been instructed to strictly enforce rules prohibiting the sale of tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions. Schools and colleges will establish EAGLE Clubs to promote awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse.

Additionally, officials emphasized strengthening the de-addiction center with adequate medical staff and facilities. Medical shop owners were directed to strictly follow legal guidelines and ensure responsible practices to prevent misuse of prescription drugs.
