Nellore SP Ajitha Vejendla issuing betting warning to youth

SP Ajitha Vejendla warns youth against betting during IPL season

Nellore: District Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla has issued a strong Betting Warning to youth, cautioning them against falling into the trap of gambling. She described betting as a dangerous addiction that can push lives into darkness and destroy futures.

Speaking in the context of the ongoing Indian Premier League season, the SP expressed serious concern that many youngsters are getting addicted to betting. She emphasized that cricket should be enjoyed purely as a sport and entertainment, and not misused as a means of gambling. The Betting Warning comes at a crucial time when online betting activities tend to rise sharply.

Betting Warning Highlights Dangers of Addiction and Loss

The SP explained that betting acts like a “deadly trap,” making it extremely difficult for individuals to escape once they get involved. The Betting Warning also pointed out that online betting apps are misleading youth by promising easy money, which often leads to financial loss and mental stress.

She noted that many young people, after getting addicted, are forced into illegal activities, accumulating debts and facing severe personal and family problems. The Betting Warning stressed that such habits can permanently damage careers and relationships.

She also stated that counseling programs have been initiated by Andhra Pradesh Police to help individuals previously involved in betting reform and return to normal life.

Betting Warning: Strict Action Against Online Platforms

The Betting Warning further highlighted that despite government bans, illegal betting continues through social media platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The SP warned that strict action will be taken against influencers promoting betting apps.

Police surveillance has been intensified across the district to monitor both online and offline betting activities.

Betting Warning Advisory for Public Safety

Reiterating the Betting Warning, the SP made it clear that betting is illegal and anyone involved in organizing, promoting, or participating will face strict legal action.

Police Advisories:

  • Report suspicious betting activities immediately
  • Youth should be cautious while using online platforms
  • Parents must monitor children’s online behavior

She urged the public to cooperate with authorities in eliminating betting activities and encouraged citizens to report information by dialing 112 or contacting the Police Control Room.
