The Divyang Shakti Scheme was officially launched in Undi on Wednesday by Deputy Speaker and Undi MLA Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju, marking a significant step towards enhancing accessibility and welfare for persons with disabilities. Divyang Shakti Scheme Launched in Undi
The Divyang Shakti Scheme was inaugurated at the Undi bus stand in the presence of Joint Collector Rahul Kumar Reddy and several public representatives. As part of the launch, two special APSRTC buses were flagged off for the benefit of persons with disabilities. The Deputy Speaker, along with beneficiaries, travelled from the bus stand to the MLA camp office, symbolizing inclusivity and support.
Speaking at the event, Raghurama Krishnam Raju highlighted that the Divyang Shakti Scheme ensures free bus travel for differently-abled individuals across the state. He stated that the government introduced this initiative keeping in mind the mobility challenges faced by persons with disabilities. He also noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu fulfilled his promise by implementing such a welfare-oriented programme.
Benefits of Divyang Shakti Scheme for Disabled Persons
Under the Divyang Shakti Scheme, persons with disabilities can now travel free of cost in APSRTC buses, easing their daily commute and improving accessibility to essential services. The Deputy Speaker further emphasized that disability pensions have been doubled from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000, which reflects the government’s commitment to social welfare.
Joint Collector Rahul Kumar Reddy described the launch of the Divyang Shakti Scheme as a special Ugadi gift to the disabled community. He appreciated the initiative for promoting dignity, independence, and equal opportunities.

The leaders also interacted with beneficiaries, enquired about their well-being, and shared a meal with them, showcasing a compassionate approach to governance.
