Highlighting the district’s progress in Bapatla ganja control, the Collector noted that the district has secured the sixth position in the state for effectively managing narcotic-related issues. Over the past year, authorities have conducted 2,390 awareness programs, demonstrating a proactive approach toward preventing drug abuse. He stressed that awareness, enforcement, and coordination are the three pillars of a successful Bapatla ganja control strategy.
Bapatla Ganja Control Measures Strengthened with Surveillance and Awareness
As part of strengthening Bapatla ganja control, officials have been instructed to install CCTV cameras in 32 identified vulnerable and isolated locations where ganja consumption is likely. The Collector emphasized that surveillance will act as a strong deterrent and help authorities monitor illegal activities more effectively.
He also highlighted the importance of public participation under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, stating that community awareness is key to eliminating drug abuse. Special focus is being placed on grassroots-level campaigns, ensuring that the message reaches youth and rural populations.

In recent enforcement actions contributing to Bapatla ganja control, authorities seized 5 kg of ganja in Vetapalem, 2.7 kg in Bapatla town, and 630 grams from a train. The Collector directed police officials to intensify raids and maintain constant vigilance.
He further instructed Village Revenue Officers (VROs) to promptly visit crime scenes and conduct panchanama immediately after cases are registered. Quick response and coordination between departments, he said, are crucial for effective Bapatla ganja control.
Medical officers have also been tasked with forming dedicated teams to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The administration aims to expand awareness campaigns across villages, schools, and colleges.
