Amaravati, March 17: A 16-member team from the National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, visited Andhra Pradesh as part of their academic study programme, marking an important NDC Delegation Amaravati Visit. NDC Delegation Amaravati Visit Focuses on Capital Development

During the NDC Delegation Amaravati Visit, the team explored the progress of Amaravati as the people’s capital and reviewed key initiatives such as the Visakhapatnam Smart City project. The delegation interacted with Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad to understand the challenges involved in building a new capital city and the steps being taken to overcome them.

Sai Prasad explained that despite financial constraints following the state bifurcation, the government is committed to constructing a world-class capital with modern infrastructure. He highlighted that with support from the Central Government, Andhra Pradesh is mobilizing significant funds to accelerate Amaravati’s development. Roads, administrative buildings, and essential infrastructure are being developed at a fast pace to ensure global standards.

The Chief Secretary also emphasized balanced regional growth, stating that the government is focusing on the development of all regions rather than concentrating only on the capital. This approach, he noted, ensures inclusive and sustainable progress across Andhra Pradesh.

NDC Delegation Amaravati Visit Reviews Infrastructure Expansion

Another key aspect of the NDC Delegation Amaravati Visit was understanding the state’s infrastructure expansion. Sai Prasad informed the delegation that Andhra Pradesh currently has airports in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kurnool, and Kadapa. He added that the Bhogapuram International Airport will soon be operational, further strengthening connectivity.

He pointed out that despite having nearly half the population of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh has a comparable number of airports, showcasing rapid infrastructure development. The state is also expanding its port network, with several new ports under development alongside existing ones.

Under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, Andhra Pradesh is making significant strides in national highway expansion, road construction, and railway projects. These efforts are aimed at boosting economic growth and improving connectivity across the state.

Earlier, delegation leader MV Patel explained that the NDC conducts a 47-week National Security and Strategic Studies course annually. As part of this programme, participants visit various states and countries to study governance models, economic development, and strategic issues. The course covers areas such as national security, global challenges, science and technology, and India’s strategic environment.
