The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar (virtually). Officials from the Civil Supplies Department, Information and Public Relations Department, Police, Vigilance, and representatives of oil companies including IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL also participated.

Measures to Strengthen LPG Supply in Andhra Pradesh

Addressing the media, Minister Payyavula Keshav said that the war-like situation in the Gulf region and disruptions in shipping routes have affected global supply chains. However, the Central government is taking steps to restore and strengthen supply systems and explore alternative routes.

He said refineries across the country have been instructed to increase LPG production by reducing other petroleum products, which could increase output by 10 to 20 percent.

The minister added that the government is prioritizing LPG supply for households, hospitals, and hostels to ensure essential services are not affected. As per the guidelines, consumers in urban areas can receive one cylinder every 25 days, while those in rural areas can receive one every 45 days, and double-cylinder connections every 32 days.

He also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in black marketing of LPG cylinders. To strengthen monitoring, the government has established special control rooms at RTGS and district collector offices.

Currently, 95 percent of LPG bookings are made online, and 88 percent of deliveries are OTP-based, and the government aims to increase these numbers further.

The minister also said the government is promoting piped natural gas (PNG) as an alternative energy source. Successful implementation in cities like Vijayawada has already shown promising results.

Civil Supplies Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, Director Srivas Nupur Ajay Kumar, Information and Public Relations Director K.S. Viswanathan, and senior officials from various departments and oil companies attended the meeting.
