Rapthadu MLA Paritala Sunitha called on parents and the public to clear misconceptions about the HPV vaccine and ensure that girls aged 14 to 15 years receive the vaccination. Speaking during her visit to the Kurugunta Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Anantapur Rural mandal, she stressed the importance of HPV Vaccine Awareness Rapthadu to protect young girls from serious diseases such as cervical cancer. The MLA reviewed the vaccination program and interacted with health officials about the progress of the initiative.

HPV Vaccine Awareness Rapthadu Program Reviewed

During the visit, MLA Sunitha spoke with doctors and health staff at the Kurugunta PHC and enquired about how many girls had already received the HPV vaccine and the response from parents. She explained that the HPV vaccine plays a crucial role in preventing cervical cancer, which has been increasingly affecting women in recent years.

She said both the Central and State governments launched the vaccination program on the occasion of International Women’s Day to strengthen women’s healthcare and prevent life-threatening diseases.

The MLA noted that several misconceptions had spread earlier about vaccines, similar to the rumours that circulated during the COVID vaccination drive. However, she clarified that vaccines are scientifically proven to be safe and effective. She also pointed out that while the vaccine costs nearly ₹12,000 in private hospitals, the government is providing it free of cost to eligible girls. She urged parents to take advantage of the program and ensure their daughters receive the vaccine without fear.

School Buildings and Development Works Inspected

Later, MLA Sunitha inspected the additional buildings of Kasturba Girls Junior College at Kurugunta and directed the contractors to complete the construction works quickly so that the facilities can be inaugurated soon. She also visited Papampeta and Vivekananda Nagar, where CC roads worth ₹20 lakh were constructed under MGNREGA funds, and reviewed the development works along with local leaders.

Meanwhile, newly elected members of the Rudrampeta and Tadimarri Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS) met the MLA at her Anantapur camp office. The members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve farmers. Sunitha congratulated the new committees and advised them to closely monitor farmers’ issues and provide better services to the agricultural community.
