In a significant milestone for healthcare services in tribal regions, the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Paderu has successfully performed a highly complex thyroid cancer surgery on a 24-year-old woman, demonstrating that corporate-level medical care is becoming accessible even in remote areas.
The young woman, a resident of Lingaputtu village, had been suffering from swelling in her neck for some time and approached the Paderu Government Hospital for treatment. After conducting detailed medical examinations, doctors diagnosed her with papillary carcinoma of the thyroid. They also found that the cancer had already spread to the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck.

Considering the seriousness of the condition, the medical team decided to perform surgery without delay. The doctors carried out a highly complex procedure that included total thyroidectomy along with modified radical neck dissection. During the operation, the thyroid gland and the affected lymph nodes in the neck were carefully removed.
Doctors said that such complicated surgeries are usually performed only in super-specialty hospitals in major cities. Successfully conducting the procedure at the Paderu Government Hospital marks a proud achievement for the institution and its medical team.
