Saina Nehwal urges students to focus on fitness, discipline and hard work

Bhimavaram, March 7:International badminton player and Padma Bhushan awardee Saina Nehwal advised students and youth to stay away from unnecessary entertainment and focus on building physical strength and mental discipline to achieve success in life.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the 46th Annual Day celebrations of SRKR Engineering College, held in Bhimavaram on Saturday. The event was presided over by the college Secretary and Correspondent Sagi Ramakrishna Nishanth Varma.

Addressing the students, Saina Nehwal said she feels immense pride and happiness in representing India on the international stage. She recalled that since the age of 21, she stayed away from movies and other forms of entertainment and focused solely on fitness and hard work to bring glory to the country. Her dedication helped her win a bronze medal for India at the Olympic Games and become one of the world’s top badminton players.

She emphasized that guidance from parents and coaches played a crucial role in her journey. By carefully listening to their advice and staying committed to her goals, she was able to achieve great success. She urged students to respect their teachers and parents and follow their guidance. With determination and hard work, she said, no goal is impossible to achieve.
On this occasion, Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, attended as a special guest. He stated that discipline is the key to success and encouraged students to follow the advice of their parents and teachers. He also urged parents to guide their children along the path of discipline and responsibility.
College Secretary and Correspondent Sagi Ramakrishna Nishanth Varma, governing body member Dr. B.H. Vijaya Narasimha Raju, Principal Dr. K.V. Muralikrishna Raju, Director Dr. Jagapati Raju, and Chief Administrative Officer CH. Dileep Chakravarthi said that the college and its students had received several national-level awards over the past year, bringing recognition to the institution across the country. They also highlighted the college’s commitment to promoting both academics and sports.
Earlier, Saina Nehwal inaugurated the Annual Day celebrations by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Later, she and Rajya Sabha MP Paka Venkata Satyanarayana presented gold medals to students who excelled in various fields. The college management also honored Saina Nehwal for her outstanding achievements in sports.
